Make a Difference Monday

Ever have a day where you eat two cupcakes for breakfast and a carton of ice cream for dinner? Yeah, that was me yesterday. So I'm going to skip over yesterday's eats and simply leave you with some inspiration.

My local Christian radio station, KLOVE, has something called "Make a Difference Monday" where they encourage listeners to go out of their way to make a difference in someone's life. I heard the following story on my way home from work and wanted to share it with you...

A woman was shopping at a dollar store when she noticed a man who seemed a little off. Other customers were giving him looks because of his odd appearance. When the woman was checking out she noticed the man was standing in line behind her. She felt something tugging at her heart telling her to pay for his items, so she did. The man began to cry and thanked her. He said to her, "you may think I'm a drunk, or a drug addict, but I look like this because I was in a serious car accident and this is how it left me." She told him that he was perfect the way he was, and that Jesus loved him, and the man began to bawl. He said that was exactly what he needed to hear.

Hopefully that story inspired you the way it did with me. I challenge you (and myself!) to make a difference...maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but hopefully sometime this week. Just think, for only a few dollars, that man's life was changed for the better. Let the next person to make a difference be you!!

  1. What a beautiful story. So often we tend to judge people by their appearances- thank you for the reminder to give each person the benefit of the doubt!
